LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--E Ink Holdings, "E Ink" (8069.TW), the leading innovator of electronic ink technology, today announced new developments, technologies and products that will be showcased at SID Display Week, booth (#529):

  • A mosaic of 20 inch Advanced Color displays featuring an expanded color gamut.
  • E Ink’s 42” display, featured in the QuirkLogic Quilla, the world’s first Connected eWriter, as well as a 42” ePaper display product developed in cooperation with Global Display Solutions (GDS).
  • Innovative display materials and technologies including Prism, Spectra, and more.
  • Latest eReaders with E Ink technology.
  • Wearable devices such as the Withings Go and Sony FES watches.

E Ink announced new developments of the highest resolution electronic paper display from a collaboration with its strategic alliance partner, Japan Display Inc. (JDI). This new electronic paper backplane achieves 400ppi and 600ppi of pixel density, and is expected to lead to significant technological breakthroughs that will enable customers to continue implementing E Ink’s e-paper technology in eReaders, smartphones and tablets, as well as many new product applications across the IoT landscape.

“Our strong partnership with E Ink allows us to strategically broaden our business into new markets beyond LCDs,” said Kazuhiro Ogawa, vice president at JDI. “E Ink’s low-power, highly-readable e-paper technology presents an exciting opportunity for JDI to expand the development of e-paper displays with built-in LTPS backplanes, opening the doors to new opportunities not only for both companies, but more importantly for our innovative customers.”

For the first time, E Ink and JDI’s ePaper modules with electronic ink on LTPS backplane will be shown at SID Display Week at JDI’s booth, #917.

E Ink is also proud to continue its sponsorship of the 6th Annual Innovation Zone (I-Zone) at Display Week, a forum provided by the Society for Information Display for the live demonstration of up-and-coming display and display-related technologies. The I-Zone can be found in the main exhibition area from May 23 to 25, and will showcase the innovative products of tomorrow. E Ink Chairman and CEO, Frank Ko will be in attendance during the ribbon cutting and commencement ceremony.

“To say it’s an exciting time for E Ink would be an understatement,” said Paul Apen, chief strategy officer at E Ink. “We’ve been coming to SID since our founding twenty years ago, and we’re happy to be here again as an exhibitor, sponsor and speaker. SID is truly an ideal venue for E Ink to showcase our industry-leading technologies and innovations, as well as new applications across a number of exciting and emerging markets that rely on the creative display and delivery of information to consumers.”

“Much of what’s showcased at SID, and what you will see from E Ink going forward, captures a new meaningful direction for the company,” says Chairman and CEO Ko. “E Ink is committed to developing core technologies that enable our customers to open new doors in product innovation. We want our customers to showcase their creativity with new products and markets, and transform and enrich the world around us. Our company culture, our spirit, our vision is to do what’s beyond the conventional and push the boundaries of what’s possible.
